We hear the word defeat and a countless number of thoughts can come to our mind. Remembering an experience that marked or crushed us can bring us some unpleasant emotions and even a toothache. I don’t know if this will make you feel better, but we have all felt defeated at some point in our lives. You can accept your sorrow without punishing yourself; being able to recognize a defeat can bring you closer to the greatest successes. Feel the frustration and understand yourself, accept what is, and try again. And do it as many times as necessary; sometimes we will have to take a step back to gain momentum. Progress is not linear; resilience will always be our ally. We do not have control over everything that happens to us, but we do control our actions and how we face the situations that want to hinder our aspirations and goals.
Habits that can help us after a defeat:
Emotionally:
- Accept how we feel
- Process all negative emotions and do not hold onto them
- In the objective:
- What did I learn from this?
- Things I will improve
- It becomes condemnation or it becomes experience
- Rebuild:
- Self-esteem, security above all
- Remember everything you have achieved
- You will have more opportunities
- Act concretely:
- What are your goals?
- Create an action plan
- Seek support from close people
- Growth:
- See defeat as an opportunity
- Focus
- From within:
- Practice resilience
- Cultivate mental strength
- Be versatile with yourself
